Sparks Speaks at CLM Conference
John Sparks of FHMS served as a panelist at the Claims Litigation Management Annual Conference, which was held in Nashville. The 2017 CLM Conference was attended by over 2000 people.
Mr. Sparks spoke regarding the continuing difficulties in hourly billing issues on a panel entitled, From Adversaries to Allies—How to Use the Billing Process to Improve the Client/Counsel Relationship. He was joined on the panel by Taylor Smith, President of CLM Advisors, Jarret Lewis, Director of Litigation Services for The Hartford and Dan Winkler, the leader of Claims Legal for the Westfield Group.
The panel dealt with a wide range of topics, emphasizing the value of firm metrics and analytics in improving billing efficiency and client relations, the needs for communication and transparency on both sides of the billing relationship and the dire consequences that face firms who do not conform their practice to client guidelines.
The CLM is the largest professional association in the insurance industry with a membership of over 35,000 professionals in the claims resolution and litigation management industries. Mr. Sparks has been selected to speak at CLM in each of the last 3 years.
